I recently reviewed the OurTour Guide to Motorhome Morocco, in which Julie and Jason Buckley provide a comprehensive guide to the ins and outs of visiting Morocco in a European motorhome.

It’s a great book and well worth the purchase price for anyone who is considering — or even just day-dreaming — about making a trip like this.

Since writing the OurTour Guide, Julie hasn’t been resting on her laurels and has completed a second book, A Monkey Ate My Breakfast: Motorhome Adventures In Morocco. As the title suggests, this tells the story of the couple’s tour around Morocco.

As part of their two-year tour of Europe, Jay and Julie spent a month touring Morocco in Dave, their ageing Hymer motorhome, and loved it so much they went back to North Africa the following year and spent six weeks in Tunisia.

A Monkey Ate My Breakfast details the often amusing and sometimes alien adventures Jay and Julie had as they travelled around Morocco — including, of course, the episode mentioned in the title, which took place in a frozen forest in the Middle Atlas Mountains…

This book contains 157 pages of authentic story-telling that provides a glimpse into a world that may not be as extreme as the rest of Africa, but is definitely a long way removed from Europe. Perhaps the only real disappointment is the lack of photos, especially as the OurTour Guide was so well illustrated.

Despite this, there are countless great photos from Morocco (and elsewhere) on the couple’s website, and I would recommend A Monkey Ate My Breakfast to anyone who is interested in travelling to Morocco in a motorhome.

A Monkey Ate My Breakfast: Motorhome Adventures in Morocco, is available from Amazon(Amazon⇒), in both paperback and ebook formats and from Smashwords, in a wide range of ebook formats.

You can also find full details of Jay and Julies’ two-year tour on their website, OurTour.co.uk, which includes hundreds of blog posts and photos from their trip around Europe.
