Are You On The Wrong Side Of The Road?
Any driver who has spent a substantial amount of time driving on both sides of the Channel will be aware of the risk of driving on the wrong side of the road – i.e. the right side in the UK or the left side in the rest of Europe.
Many such drivers, if they are honest, will admit that they have done this, but through sheer luck have got away with it. One or two may even admit that they have had an accident as a result of driving on the wrong side of the road.
This recent post on the Avis car hire blog made me think about this issue again more carefully. The advice in the article is very well reasoned and accurate and sums up my own experiences exactly. Experienced continental drivers may say it is obvious or exaggerated – but that’s only because they have already developed these good driving habits (or have been lucky). In any case, it’s good advice to follow.
I’ll get off my soapbox now and resume normal service, talking about motorhomes, travel and other fun things…
