Highlights from Skye down to Edinburgh – Scotland 2010
After leaving Skye, our route homewards took in the area around Fort William, Loch Lomond and then Stirling, Falkirk and Edinburgh. Here are a few highlights:
Driving through Glen Shiel:
Glen Finnan Viaduct – better known as the one from Harry Potter, together with the Jacobite Express steam train:

Driving through Glen Coe – surprisingly good
The Falkirk Wheel – a kind of giant ferris wheel that carries boats between the Forth & Clyde Canal and the Union Canal, replacing a series of locks:

Edinburgh – we saw the Queen but security around her visit meant that we couldn’t see some other parts of the old town or Holyrood Palace:
… and thus ended another trip. From Edinburgh, we travelled home, back to normality for a while.
