Brit Stops 2017: 160 new sites added for this year
Disclosure: I received a free review copy of Brit Stops 2017 for this article but did not receive any payment and was not required to write a positive review.
If you’re a regular Brit Stopper, you’ll probably already know that the 2017 directory has been available since 1 March.
So my apologies to Steve at Brit Stops for this slightly belated review…
If you’re new to Brit Stops, then what you need to know is that buying the Brit Stops directory allows you to stop overnight in your motorhome at hundreds of pubs, farm shops, vineyards and other rural locations in the UK.
All stops are completely FREE. Once you’ve paid for your guide — a snip at £27.50 — that’s it for the year. This year’s guide is valid from 1st March 2017 to 28th February 2018.
Brit Stops is growing fast. This year’s edition contains no fewer than 160 new stopover locations. That’s a 25% increase on last year’s guide.
Here are some of the changes to this year’s guide:
- 761 locations (160 are new)
- New larger format book with larger, more detailed maps and four host sites to a view
- New lay flat book spine so the book stays open when in use — I can report that this does work and is very useful!
- Post codes for sat navs and written directions to each site
All of this is in addition to the standard features which have made Brit Stops so popular:
- Ordnance Survey maps showing all host sites, with motorways and major A roads
- Important access information such as single track lanes, length/width restrictions
- Index of hosts by county
- Clear symbols showing the facilities (if any) available at each site
- Valid from 1st March 2017 to 28 February 2018.
- Price unchanged at £27.50 for the third consecutive year.
If you’re not sure whether to take the plunge, then it’s worth noting that Brit Stops aren’t just pubs.
Membership enables you to stay at a wide variety of other rural businesses, such as vineyards, breweries and farm shops. Most of these are only available for motorhome stopovers to Brit Stops members.
As for my favourite… well, the farm shop and cafe at 557 does pretty amazing homecooked food.
